It s just the 2009 remasters digitally sourced to vinyl.
The beatles stereo vinyl box set review.
A couple were warped quite badly too really making my stylus go up and down well beyond my comfort zone.
But if you put on these records and just listen they sound fantastic.
The stereo box set offers the entire beatles catalogue in upgraded remastered sound packaged in a lovely if somewhat awkward container.
Each booklet contains the original liner notes along with more recent recording notes from george martin.
I bought the set when it came out but i actually don t think i ve played the albums more than twice each i just go to the mono vinyl box.
This is the third time i have purchased the beatles music the originals in vinyl the cds in the 80s and now the stereo remastered box set.
This makes the box set a very worthwhile collector s item and keepsake.
I found that out of the 14 records i opened of the 16 total 12 were warped when spinning on my platter.
I debated long and hard about getting the mono or stereo version and in the end the price difference and the fact that all their music is in the one box decided it was stereo for me.
The latest 2013 set itself features original stereo mixes for all of the beatles albums from please please me to let it be including magical mystery tour and past masters 1 2 pressed on 180gm vinyl and present in thick card sleeves along with in the box set a magnificent 253 page hardback book detailing every album and showing superb production standards with lots of spot gloss work on thick paper.
There is very little surface noise and it sounds much more natural.
I personally don t think the stereo box set is worth it other than the great book that s included because there really isn t anything unique about it.
I have bought many 180 gram audiophile discs by other artists and most of them track much better with no warping so yes by comparison i am disappointed.
